An Bang Beach

Just a short drive from the UNESCO World Heritage town of Hoi An, An Bang Beach offers a refreshing escape from the bustling ancient alleys. With its snow white sand, turquoise waters, and laid back vibe, An Bang has emerged as one of Vietnam's leading beaches without anyone even noticing it. Whether you seek a quiet retreat, an active day at the beach, or a look into Vietnamese seaside life, this beach offers everything.

An Bang Beach wasn't always the tourist destination it is today. For decades, it was a relatively pristine stretch of sand reserved mostly for local fishermen and a select few expat locals "in the know." While nearby Cua Dai Beach was eroded and overdeveloped, An Bang remained untouched.
The beach began making headlines early in the 2010s when Hoi An began to draw growing numbers of overseas visitors, and word about this serene haven began spreading. Thanks to community preservation efforts and sustainable tourism practice, An Bang has retained its authenticity while growing in popularity over the years.

The ideal time to visit An Bang Beach is March to August, when central Vietnam experiences warm, sunny days with minimal rain. The temperatures during the months are between 25°C and 35°C (77°F and 95°F), making it perfect for beach activities, swimming, and relaxing while watching the sunsets.
The hottest and most populated months are July and August, so visiting during the shoulder season between March and May or September can be a less crowded experience while not giving up on the good weather.

One of the highlights of an An Bang visit is the beach dining experience. There are dozens of tiny restaurants and bars along the beach that offer everything from fresh seafood to international cuisine. You can have grilled squid and a cold beer with your feet in the sand.
Hotspots like The DeckHouse, Soul Kitchen, and La Plage offer a mix of local cuisine, live music, and beachside dining. The vibe here is easy going and welcoming, making it perfect for solo travelers, couples, and families. As the sun sets over the South China Sea, An Bang changes with soft lighting, chilled tunes, and the clinking of glasses.

An Bang is not just for unwinding, but it's also the perfect place to get moving. The beach offers a range of water sports activities, including paddleboarding, surfing, and kayaking. Surfing is best during late fall and winter when the waves get larger, with a growing group of local and expat surfers.
There are beach rentals and lessons, so it is easy enough for a beginner to join in. If you don't want to get wet, try a yoga class on the beach, a game of volleyball, or simply walking a great distance along the beach.

While not a party resort like some beaches in Southeast Asia, An Bang has a friendly nightlife with a focus on live music and low key bars. Soul Kitchen is one of the highlights, with local and international bands performing regularly that play everything from jazz to reggae.
The atmosphere is less dance and noisy bunches of individuals and more about vibe and connection. It's an excellent venue to relax outdoors with a drink under the stars while appreciating good live music.
