Surrounding the waterfall are hundreds of towering basalt columns. They stacked layer upon layer, bearing a striking resemblance to Phu Yen’s nationally recognized scenic site, Ganh Da Dia. However, while Ganh Da Dia in An Ninh Dong Commune stretches out toward the sea, the “Ganh Da Dia” of Vuc Hom is nestled deep within the embrace of the surrounding mountains.
Vuc Hom Waterfall is situated in Vinh Xuan Village, An Linh Commune, Tuy An District, Phu Yen Province, Vietnam. It lies approximately 33 kilometers northwest of Tuy Hoa city center and around 194 kilometers northeast of Cam Ranh City, Khanh Hoa Province.
Phu Yen doesn’t have a major international airport, but no worries, you can easily fly into Cam Ranh Airport (CXR) in Nha Trang and continue your journey from there. Upon your arrival, you have several options to reach Tuy Hoa.
First of all, we have private cars, which are flexible and comfortable. The journey covers approximately 165 km and takes about 2 hours and 22 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.
Train is another option. You should take a taxi from the airport to Nha Trang Railway Station, then board a train to Tuy Hoa. The train journey will be around 2 hours and 7 minutes.
Last but not least is the combination between bus and train. You will have to catch a bus from Cam Ranh Airport to Nha Trang, then transfer to a train heading to Tuy Hoa. This option may take approximately 4 hours and 50 minutes.
In terms of specific direction, starting from the airport, you’ll take the main road heading north and join National Highway 1A. As you approach Tuy Hoa city, turn left at Hoa Da Intersection onto Provincial Road 643, which will take you directly into the city center.
Reaching Vuc Hom Waterfall is fairly easy, especially when the route is clearly displayed on Google Maps. From Tuy Hoa, head north on National Highway 1, then turn left onto Provincial Road 634 leading up to the Van Hoa Plateau. Continue driving through forested paths, uphill slopes, and paved roads for about 10 kilometers until you arrive at Vinh Xuan Village.
From there, you can either leave your vehicle in the village and enjoy a short 500-meter walk to the waterfall, or opt for a local motorbike ride to make your way down to Vuc Hom.

The best time to visit Vuc Hom Waterfall is during the dry season, from January to August. During these months, Phu Yen usually enjoys plenty of sunshine and very little rain, making it easier and more convenient to explore the waterfall and take part in outdoor activities like swimming in the streams, hiking, and camping. Here’s a bit more detail on what to expect:
However, you might want to avoid coming between September and December known as the rainy season. At this period of time, Phu Yen tends to get heavy rains which can cause the streams to rise quickly and flow fast. Hence, it is unsafe to swim or move around near the waterfall. In addition, the roads can get slippery and tricky to navigate.
