Thien Ha Cave

As laid in its name, Thien Ha Cave (meaning “Galaxy Cave”) seems to hide a galaxy inside the mountain, with magical sunlight shining in the dry cave and shimmering lights in the water cave. Therefore, it is considered the most beautiful cave in the Trang An Landscape Complex. Come with Asia King Travel to find out what makes Thien Ha Cave a must-visit when travelling to Ninh Binh.
Thien Ha Cave is considered the most beautiful cave in the Trang An Landscape Complex
Thien Ha Cave is nestled in the Tuong mountain range at an altitude of nearly 200 meters above sea level, which used to be a solid natural wall that protected the southwest of the ancient capital Hoa Lu in the 10th century. The cave was discovered and put into operation as a tourist site in 2007.
Visitors can experience many interesting activities at Thien Ha Cave
Thien Ha Cave has a space of up to 12,000 square meters, equivalent to many other famous caves in Vietnam. When visiting the cave, visitors can not only admire countless stalactites with magical shapes that are hundreds of millions of years old, but also experience attractive boating and sightseeing activities.
According to the latest announcement, Thien Ha Cave is open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The entrance fee to the cave is currently VND 200,000/person. However, this price is not fixed and may change, depending on the promotional program at each time.
According to many locals, summer (May to August) is the best time to explore Thien Ha Cave. Although Ninh Binh's weather at that time is quite hot, once you step inside the cave, you will feel like you are lost in another world, with surprisingly cool air (it is said that the air inside the cave is 12 degrees Celsius lower than outside).

In addition, travelling to Thien Ha Cave in spring (February to April) and autumn (September to November) is good as well. At these two times, Ninh Binh's weather is ideal and convenient for you to explore the scenery there and neighbouring places.
Thien Ha Cave is located in the Southeast of Tay Hoa Lu Ward, Ninh Binh Province. From Hanoi, you can choose from many different means of transportation like motorbikes, buses, limousines, or trains. Among these, a limousine bus is often preferred because of its convenience and speed. The price of limousine tickets from Hanoi to Ninh Binh usually ranges from VND 155,000 to VND 250,000/trip, depending on the pick-up and drop-off point.
Many people choose a limousine bus to travel from Hanoi to Ninh Binh
If dropping off in Hoa Lu Ward, you will have many public transport options to Thien Ha Cave, but renting a motorbike in Ninh Binh is the best option for you to move more flexibly. You can choose the National Road 1A - Provincial Road 491C - National Road 12B route, which is the fastest with a distance of 23 kilometers and a travel time of 30 to 40 minutes.
You can easily follow the route via Google Maps, but remember to choose the right destination on the app as many people got to the wrong place. You should type “Galaxy Grotto” or “Thien Ha Cave” instead of the Vietnamese name.
After buying tickets at the gate, the journey to admire Thien Ha cave will begin with a 10-minute float on the calm water to reach the foot of the majestic Tuong mountain. Once docking, the tour guide will accompany you on a 300-meter walk to the cave entrance, where a natural masterpiece awaits you. And the moment you step through the cave entrance, the feeling of tranquillity with majestic beauty will appear in front of your eyes.

With a length of 700 meters, the site opens up a unique journey of discovery with two types of caves: the dry cave and the wet cave. Each has its own characteristic and is beautiful in its own way.
The dry cave is the tallest and widest cave in Thien Ha Cave with countless sparkling stalactites, stimulating every visitor’s imagination. From the gentle Buddha image, to the magnificent castle, graceful fan blades and even human ears, all are created by the magical hands of nature. In addition, the cave still preserves many traces of ancient Vietnamese people and animals, which shows that the cave still retains its pristine beauty.
When entering the dry cave, visitors will feel as if they are completely separated from the outside world. The cool air from the cave blends with the flapping of bats' wings, creating a mysterious and unique atmosphere. This is an opportunity for you to immerse your soul in the stalactites and stalagmites that have been created over millions of years, as well as clearly feel the imprint of time and the primitiveness of creation.
You can take many beautiful pictures from the Heaven's Gate
Besides, there is a famous spot inside the dry cave called “Heaven’s Gate” - a naturally formed hole right in it. From this “gate”, you will see the sunlight shining through this hole, creating a wonderful, magical light path. The photos taken here are so sparkling that they make the Thien Ha dry cave a must-visit when visiting Ninh Binh.
Besides the dry cave, the water cave is also a special destination. If the dry cave is a quiet journey with majestic beauty, the water cave will take you to a magical and poetic beauty. The name Thien Ha Cave is also taken from here.
The boat will smoothly take you through the underground river, winding along the towering cliffs, reflecting on the calm water surface. Visitors will go from one surprise to another when the boatmen introduce the story, origin, and "strange" shapes of the stalactites in a very natural way. In the darkness of the wet cave, the stalactites hanging down from above or emerging from the water all sparkle like a galaxy in the heart of the mountain.
The journey into Thien Ha Water Cave is quiet yet relaxing
Without the need for noise and bustle, the water cave still conquers the hearts of visitors with its layered stalactite masterpieces, reflecting on the lake surface, depicting the majestic and magnificent beauty of the underground world. With a length of about 500 meters, the experience of floating on the water and admiring the stalactites is said to be extremely relaxing.
Thien Ha Cave not only has cool, fresh air, but it will also immerse you in a poetic and majestic space with interesting stalactites. You will be free to let your imagination soar, creating your own stories for each statue inside.
