The Sea of Cloud at Pu Luong Peak

Hieu Village and Hieu Waterfall are located in Co Lung Commune, Ba Thuoc District, Thanh Hoa. Visiting Pu Luong during the rice harvest season, travelers will be amazed by the 25-kilometer road lined with beautiful terraced rice fields stretching along both sides of the stream. Crossing a small wooden suspension bridge leads visitors into the village.
The village is home to more than one hundred stilt houses scattered along the stream banks. The combination of traditional stilt houses, rocky rapids, and waterfalls creates a picturesque landscape that resembles a traditional watercolor painting. Although the stream section running through the village is less than one kilometer long, it features up to five different waterfalls, each with its own unique beauty and character.

Hieu Waterfall in Thanh Hoa
According to local residents, Hieu Stream never dries up and remains crystal clear all year round, cool during summer and surprisingly warm in winter. At the foot of Hieu Waterfall lies a small natural pool with water just over one meter deep and a sandy bottom, forming a perfect natural swimming spot where visitors can relax after exploring the waterfall area.
Son – Ba – Muoi, also known as the Cao Son area, lies within the core zone of Pu Luong Nature Reserve and borders Ngoc Son Ngo Luong Nature Reserve. True to the name “Cao Son” meaning “high mountain,” these villages sit atop the Pha He and Pha Chien mountain ranges at an altitude of around 1,200 meters above sea level, running parallel to the majestic Pu Luong – Cuc Phuong mountain range.

Son Ba Muoi Villages
Because of the high elevation and the difficult road conditions leading to the villages, Son – Ba – Muoi remains largely isolated from the lowland communities below.
