Nam Tra Waterfall is located in Le Lai Commune, Thach An District, Cao Bang Province, and it is about 35 km southeast of Cao Bang City. This is an area that still retains its pristine, wild beauty with majestic mountain landscapes and fresh air all year.
If you depart from Hanoi city center, Nam Tra Waterfall is about 280 km away from the capital. The most suitable route is to follow the direction of the National Highway 3 from Hanoi to Thai Nguyen Province, Bac Kan Province, then to Cao Bang Province. It will take about 7 to 8 hours to travel by car or bus. You can take a bus from My Dinh or Gia Lam bus station to Cao Bang City, then rent a private motorbike or car to get to the waterfall.

When you arrive at Cao Bang city center, you can follow the direction of the National Highway 4A towards Thach An District, then turn onto the inter-commune road to Le Lai Commune. From here, you can walk about 1 km along the forest road to the foot of the waterfall. The road is a bit steep and bumpy, but the view on both sides of the road is picturesque, which makes a small but worthwhile journey.
Nam Tra Waterfall is one of the natural waterfalls formed from the long-standing flow of streams on the limestone mountains in the Thach An area. According to the local people, the name "Nam Tra" comes from the Tay language, which means "where water falls in the middle of the forest".
