Food around

Grilled stream fish

One of the most delicious dishes is grilled stream fish in bamboo tubes. The fish is caught directly from the Mooc Stream. It is small in body but firm in meat, it is cleaned and marinated with salt, lemongrass, chili, and a little fermented rice to remove the fishy smell. The fish is then grilled in a bamboo tube over hot coals, preserving its natural sweetness.

When the bamboo tube is opened, the smell rises strangely attractive. You can often compare this fish dish to "the flavor of the stream lingering on the tip of the tongue", both rustic and special. This dish is served with salt, pepper, and lemon for a more mouth-watering taste.

Bamboo-tube rice

The second dish that cannot be missed is Quang Binh bamboo-tube rice served with sesame salt. The rice is washed, soaked in water, then put into young bamboo tubes, covered with banana leaves at the top, and grilled directly on the fire. The fragrance of rice mixed with the scent of bamboo and banana leaves creates a finger-licking flavor that cannot be mistaken.

When you have a bite of it, the rice is sticky, slightly sweet, and eaten with sesame salt or dipped in braised fish, it is a perfect option. Enjoying this dish, you will be impressed because of the rustic yet charming taste in each piece of rice, taking the soul of the countryside in a simple plate.
