According to local legend, there was once a young couple deeply in love. But they were unable to be together, and chose to end their lives by jumping into the waterfall to prove their eternal love. Moved by their story, the locals named the falls Thac Chang and Thac Nang to honor their passionate love.
Giang Dien Waterfall is located in Trang Bom Commune, Dong Nai Province, about 50 kilometers northeast of Ho Chi Minh City. The travel time is only around one hour, mostly along national highways, making it an ideal spot for a day trip or weekend getaway for city dwellers. Thanks to the short distance, the price for renting a bus is quite affordable, usually under VND 1 million.
The waterfall is not very tall, so the flow of water cascades down quite gently
From Tan Son Nhat Airport, you can take Truong Chinh Street or Pham Van Dong Street to enter the Dai Han Highway. Follow the highway heading east, then merge onto Hanoi Highway. After that, turn right onto Le Van Duyet Street to get onto National Route 51. Turn right onto Vo Chi Cong Street. Finally, turn left onto Phuoc Tan – Giang Dien Road and you’ll arrive at your destination.
If you plan to visit Giang Dien Waterfall, it's best to go during the dry season (the early months of the year) or on sunny days. During this time, the water is much clearer and more beautiful. In contrast, during the rainy season, the water often becomes muddy, and it's easy to get splashed with dirt.
Many tourists come to swim in the waterfall during the holidays
The entrance fee to Giang Dien Waterfall Tourist Area is VND 80,000 per adult and VND 40,000 for children under 1.4 meters tall. On weekends, ticket prices increase by VND 20,000. The site also offers combo tickets that include multiple services, with prices ranging from VND 150,000 to VND 700,000.
