ExploraScience Quy Nhon

You’ve probably heard of Quy Nhon’s beaches, but here’s something you might not expect: just outside the city is ExploraScience, Vietnam’s first-ever space science center. It also happens to be only the second of its kind in Southeast Asia (the first one’s in Singapore).
This place isn’t just for kids. It’s full of interactive exhibits, cosmic visuals, and hands-on activities that hit the sweet spot between fun and fascinating. If you’re into science, space, or just looking for something different to do with the family, this is the kind of spot that surprises you in the best way. And yes, you’ll want your camera. Let’s be honest, the photo ops? Kinda incredible.

ExploraScience Quy Nhon is located at 10 Science Avenue, Ghenh Rang Ward, just a short ride from the city center. Distance from Quy Nhon city center: approximately 7 to 8 kilometers
By motorbike: Follow the scenic coastal road south along An Duong Vuong street, then turn onto Science Avenue. The ride takes about 15–20 minutes and offers beautiful views of the ocean.
By car or taxi: Take the main coastal road or book a Grab for convenience. Parking is available on-site and usually not crowded.
Open only from Wednesday to Sunday.
Don’t miss the Wednesday and Saturday Night Stargazing Program (7:00 – 9:00 PM). Even if the weather isn’t clear, the sky simulation indoors, led by real astronomers, will take you and your child on a cosmic journey you won’t forget.
ExploraScience Quy Nhon for families is built for connection and curiosity. This is not a hands-off museum. Everything here invites you to play, ask, and explore together.
The center consists of two key buildings: the Main Exhibition Hall and the Astronomical Observatory. The main hall spans over 7,200 square meters and includes seven themed rooms, as well as a state-of-the-art planetarium dome. Each room immerses visitors in a different scientific theme, from the Solar System to Matter, and from Mars to playful, hands-on experiments.
When you step into this room, it feels like entering the galaxy itself. Planets float around you, galaxies spiral across the walls, and right at the center stands the glowing OmniGlobe. This interactive sphere lets you zoom in and explore the universe with a simple touch. It’s both mesmerizing and deeply humbling because you realize where Earth fits in the cosmic picture.

This room was built with help from CERN, and it brings atomic science down to earth in the most playful way possible. Imagine kicking digital protons across a screen and watching how they crash and react. Kids and adults alike get to learn how collisions create energy, and maybe even glimpse how particles like the Higgs boson form. It’s science, but it feels like a game.

This is where big topics like climate change and pollution are turned into hands-on learning. You can spin up a tornado, feel wind at different strengths, and explore a terrain model that shows flooding and sustainable energy. It’s the kind of experience that sticks with you and makes you want to take better care of our planet.

Want to know how humanity made it to space? This room walks you through it with sections like “Leaving Earth” and “Space and Society.” It combines history, science, and imagination so you can understand how far we’ve come and how much more we can explore.

Mars becomes real here. With interactive displays and simulation tools, you can drive a rover, compare your Earth weight to Martian gravity, and study climate patterns on a planet that might one day host human life. It’s educational and adventurous all at once.

Here’s where the fun really ramps up. This room is full of quirky, hands-on stations that teach science without lectures. Kids can make tornadoes in bottles, mix colored lights, and explore weird mirror tricks. There’s even a mini stage for live experiments, which means there’s always something surprising going on.

Science often begins with “why,” and this room is all about that spirit. Friendly staff explain natural phenomena through interactive stations that cover physics, biology, and chemistry. It’s not just for kids and adults end up asking their own questions too. That’s why this room tends to be a favorite for all ages.

If you’ve never looked through a high-powered telescope, this is your chance. The observatory houses the CDK600, the most powerful telescope in Vietnam, along with six smaller scopes for public use. When night falls and the domes open, you’ll see planets, nebulae, and maybe even another galaxy. Just be sure to check the night program schedule in advance so you don’t miss your spot.

ExploraScience doesn’t stop at static exhibits. It also runs hands-on STEM workshops and science tours for all ages. These programs bring together Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math into real projects that kids get to build, test, and take pride in. It’s learning that feels like play and looks a lot like the future.

Go early for fewer crowds, and better photos with clear backgrounds.
Pack water and snacks. There’s no food sold inside
Bring your own drinks and snacks. The center doesn’t sell food, so pack a water bottle and snacks for the family.
Planning to stargaze? Make a reservation in advance. The program runs on Wednesday and Saturday nights, and spots fill up quickly. Don’t forget a light jacket cause the sea breeze can get breezy.
Bonus tip for perfect a day plan: explore in the morning, relax at Quy Hoa or Ghenh Rang in the afternoon and stargaze at night.
ExploraScience Quy Nhon is one of those rare places where families just click, where everything slows down and you actually enjoy being curious together. The kids are busy building tornadoes, the teens are off chasing stars through a telescope, and the parents? They’re soaking it all in, smiling at how much fun everyone’s having together.
