Chung Son Temple

Chung Son Temple is an important work belonging to the Chung Mountain Cultural and Historical Relic Site Project. Thanks to its feng shui location and favorable terrain, it was chosen as the solemn structure to honor and worship Vietnam’s great leader and his family.

Chung Son Temple lies on the Chung Mountain, Kim Lien Commune, Nam Dan District, Nghe An Province. This construction is a part of the Project to establish the Chung Mountain Cultural and Historical Relic Site. This project, along with restoring traditional craft villages such as weaving lotus fabrics or making herb candles, creates a unique cultural and national identity of Nghe An, President Ho's homeland. You can visit Chung Son Temple between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm every day.
If departing from Hanoi by personal vehicles, you may feel exhausted due to the long trip. Therefore, we suggest traveling by other kinds of transportation to get to Vinh City, Nghe An Province first. Here are some suggestions:
After reaching Vinh City, you will follow National Highway 46A for 16km to the temple.
Chung Son Temple is a new work besides other original places in the Kim Lien Historical Site (Sen Village, Hoang Tru Village, The Tomb of Mrs.Hoang Thi Loan, etc.). It was constructed in 2012 and went into use 8 years later, on the occasion of the 130th birthday anniversary of President Ho (19/05/1890 - 19/05/2020).

This temple roles as a sacred place to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and his ancestors. Over the years, thousands of local and international tourists have been to this place with deep gratitude and a strong wish to learn more about the President’s brilliant life.
The temple covers an area of 83.63 hectares, nestled amidst the lush natural scenery of Chung Mountain. It features 18 works, each reflecting the essence of traditional Vietnamese architecture. While the overall design feels solemn and sacred, it remains open and harmonious with nature, creating a peaceful atmosphere rather than a sense of confinement.
Regarding the internal structure, Chung Son Temple houses altars dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh, his parents, and both sides of his family. In addition, there are other notable features, including a traditional three-door gate, a lotus pond, miniature scenic areas, and more.

Once you get there, step into the inner sanctuary to offer incense and pay respects to the brilliant figures of the past. Then, we suggest taking a moment to listen to heartfelt stories about President Ho Chi Minh’s life told by temple keepers, which will provide a deeper understanding of his legacy.

Or take a peaceful walk under the green canopy of Chung Mountain, where fresh air, birdsong, and the gentle rustling of leaves create a truly serene atmosphere. Visiting this site offers a chance to pay tribute to Hoang Thi Loan, a selfless woman who devoted her life to being the backbone of her household. You will wander through the path leading to the thatched cottage where President Ho used to live, humbly nestled under the green canopy of fruit trees and the rows of bamboo. Items in the cottage are still intact and well-preserved, such as black-painted wooden trays, two wooden benches, a standing cabinet, etc.
Visitors come not only to explore a place tied to President Ho Chi Minh’s formative years, but also to gain insight into traditional Vietnamese rural life. After the visit, you can unwind by the serene pond just outside, feed the fish, and breathe in the fresh countryside air.

Built in 1970, this complex became the first museum to display Ho Chi Minh's biography. Over time, this collection has been enriched by many documents and artifacts added by national compatriots and international friends. Now, you can visit this huge memorial space to gain a deeper insight into the life of President Ho and his great contribution to national independence.
