Difficulty: slight to moderate

Assemble at the office at 8:00am and depart at 8:30am towards Veonsai District. Cross the Sesan River by ferry, then continue driving for another hour through secondary forest, learning about the indigenous lifestyle. Reach the Virachey National Park border and break for lunch with a Kavet indigenous family by a clear river.

1st trek destination: Trek to the waterfall (approx. 2.5hrs)

Begin trekking into Virachey National Park. Cross a river and hike through dense jungle, discovering natural resources and spotting native wildlife. Arrive at the waterfall, enjoy a swim, and have a snack.

2nd destination: Trek to the Boat (approx. 1hr)

Trek through primary and bamboo forests to the top of the Olalai River where a community boat awaits. Travel downstream, spotting native birds and wildlife. Return to the Kavet family by 5pm, then climb a high hill to watch the sunset over Virachey National Park.

The O’lalai River meanders through the forest, starting from a spring near the Laos border. After breakfast, embark on a relaxing rafting journey, enjoying swimming and wildlife watching along the way. Arrive at the main village of the Kavet indigenous people for lunch. Learn about their customs, culture, and traditions. Return to Banlung by around 4pm.
