Chiang Rai Tour 2 Days: Visiting Chiang Khong

Your trip begins in the morning with a visit to Doi Tung Royal Villa and the Hill Tribe Project at Doi Tung, which is located in the northwest hills of Chiang Rai Province. After visiting Mae Fah Luang Garden, continue on to Mae Sai, Thailand's northernmost point.

Then continue to the Golden Triangle, where the Ruak River and the Mekong River meet to form the border of three countries - Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos - and visit the House of Opium Museum. Then proceed to the ancient city of Chiang Sean at Wat Chedi Luang, and after leaving Chiang Saen, continue by road to Chiang Khong. Stay overnight at Namkhong River Side Hotel or a similar establishment and take in the scenery of the Mekong River.

Visit the market to see Thai and Laotian villagers buying their daily produce. After breakfast, you can continue to explore the surrounding villages before lunch. Lunch is taken at a local restaurant that overlooks the location where local fishermen catch the massive Mekong catfish. After lunch, return to Chiang Rai in the late afternoon.
