Surin Island Tour 3 Days: Moken Village Experience

Your adventure begins with a transfer from your hotel in Kuraburi to Kuraburi Pier, where you'll meet your translator for a pre-trip briefing. Afterward, board a speedboat for the journey to Koh Surin, where you will check into your tent accommodations at the National Park Headquarters. Once settled, take some time to relax on the peaceful beach, soaking in the beauty of the blue waters and soft white sands.

For lunch, enjoy a delicious Thai-style meal at the National Park Headquarters before meeting your Moken guide. Embark on an underwater tour where you'll learn about the sea gypsies' unique lifestyle and their deep connection to the ocean. As you snorkel, your guide will point out sea turtles and sharks gliding through the waters, showcasing the richness of marine life around Surin Island. After the snorkel tour, return to the park headquarters for some free time to unwind.

In the evening, enjoy a hearty dinner at the park headquarters before retreating to your beachside tent for a restful night. The tents come with bedding, and electricity is provided from 6 to 10 PM, ensuring a comfortable stay.

Start the day with breakfast at the park headquarters, then meet your local guide for a boat ride to the Moken village. Here, you'll explore the village and gain insight into the Moken people's deep connection to the sea. Visit their homes, built on stilts directly on the beach, and learn about the colorful "Spirit Poles" that are part of their culture.

Join in on a handicraft workshop and try your hand at traditional Moken weaving, using forest Pandanus leaves to make a natural bracelet - a perfect souvenir to take home. Enjoy a packed lunch at a Moken house, immersing yourself in the daily life of the sea gypsies. After lunch, your guide will take you on a forest hike, highlighting plants that are used for food, medicine, and building traditional houseboats.

In the afternoon, dive into a coral reef exploration with your Moken guide, discovering a vibrant underwater world filled with tropical fish. Watch the impressive Moken swimming techniques as you snorkel alongside them. Return to the park headquarters for some free time to stroll along the beach, relax, and enjoy a sunset before heading to dinner.

After breakfast at the park headquarters, board a long-tail boat for another visit to the Moken village. Here, you’ll try rowing a traditional Moken "row-boat" and even attempt their unique method of spear fishing, a skill passed down through generations.

Reunite with your Moken guide for one final snorkeling adventure at a new site, or revisit the village if time permits. After snorkeling, return to the park headquarters for lunch and begin packing your belongings in preparation for departure.

In the afternoon, depart from Koh Surin by speedboat and head back to Kuraburi Pier. From there, you'll be transferred back to Kuraburi town, bringing your memorable experience with the sea gypsies to a close.
