Dong Lam Grassland is an unmissable place in your journey in Huu Lien. This 100-hectare grassland is considered the ‘Mongo of Vietnam’, due to its charming landscapes. There is no phone signal here, so it may be inconvenient in case you need to work or contact somebody.
Except for that inconvenience, Dong Lam Grassland is a perfect picnic spot. You can engage in outdoor games, explore the uniquely formed caves, or go fishing in the Mo Ang Lake. Besides, this land is the habitat of the Tay and Dao ethnic communities, so you may have a chance to see their herds of horses leisurely grazing on the green fields. If you’re looking for some new updates on your Instagram, there are trained horses to take pictures with or rent horse-drawn carriages for sightseeing.

Interestingly, visit the grassland in the rainy season (July-October). You will have an opportunity to admire a completely impressive view: the water level from streams rises and covers the flat grassland, turning Dong Lam into a beautiful lake nestled in the mountains. The most highlighted activity for this time is kayaking or going on a boat cruise to explore the pristine surroundings.

If you’re both an adventurer and a nature lover, this place is definitely for you. Before reaching ‘the treasure’ hidden in the green forest, you need to conquer a challenging but exciting trekking route. It will take 1 to 1 and a half hours to complete the trip. Just be aware of some sharp rocks you may encounter on the way to avoid unexpected accidents!
The reward for persistent trekkers is totally worth it! In front of your eyes lies the enchanting, clear strips of water pouring straight from above, gleaming under the sunlight shining through the canopy. In the middle of a dense forest, water from Mo Ang Lake flows down through the limestone canyons to form Khe Dau waterfall, creating a beautiful picture of shape, color, and sound.
