Cam Mountain - also known as Thien Cam Son
Cam Mountain (also known as Thien Cam Son) is located in An Hao Commune, Tinh Bien Town, An Giang Province. Standing at approximately 716 meters above sea level, it is the highest peak in the southwestern region of Vietnam. Thanks to its cool year-round climate, scenic landscapes, and peaceful atmosphere, it has earned the nickname “the Da Lat of the Mekong Delta,” drawing numerous visitors from near and far for sightseeing, spiritual journeys, and relaxation.

An Overview of Cam Mountain
From Ho Chi Minh City, you can travel to Long Xuyen City or Chau Doc (An Giang), then follow National Highway 91 and turn onto provincial roads towards An Hao Commune to reach the foot of Cam Mountain. The road is quite convenient and easy to travel, suitable for motorbikes, cars and passenger vans.
From the foot of the mountain, visitors can choose one of three ways to reach the top: by cable car, tourist car, or climbing. The cable car is about 3.5km long, operating from 6am to 5pm, and can serve 2,000 people per hour. If you like adventure, you can climb through the forest, the distance is from 5 to more than 40km depending on the starting point. In addition, the electric car system and small tourist cars are also ready to take you through the winding mountain roads, conveniently and safely.
How to get to Cam Mountain
The ideal time to explore Cam Mountain is during the spring, when the weather is cool and misty, and the lush green landscape creates a poetic, vibrant atmosphere. From the 4th to the 9th lunar months, the area comes alive with major local festivals such as the Via Ba Chua Xu (Lady Xu Festival) and the Bay Nui Ox Racing Festival, both rich in unique Southern Vietnamese culture.
If you prefer untouched natural beauty, consider visiting during the rainy season (around May to November), when the mountains are often blanketed in clouds. With temperatures ranging from 19°C to 28°C, it’s a great time for forest trekking and soaking in the serene, mist-covered scenery.
Best Time to Visit Cam Mountain
Van Linh Pagoda is also known as La Pagoda because it was originally a simple thatched pagoda built by the founding monk Thich Thien Quang in 1927. In 1995, the pagoda was redesigned and rebuilt in the traditional Eastern architectural style with 3 majestic towers located in 3 different locations in front of the main hall.
The 9-storey bell tower is where the giant Great Bell weighing 1.2 tons is located, the 9-storey Quan Am tower is over 35 meters high and the 3-storey memorial tower of the founding monk Thich Thien Quang. All three towers are places that attract people to visit, worship and pray. This is also the most famous and sacred pagoda in Lam Vien Nui Cam An Giang Tourist Area.

Phat Lon Pagoda (also known as the Great Buddha Pagoda or Zen Monastery) is a must-visit spiritual site on Cam Mountain, most famous for its towering Maitreya Buddha statue, standing at 33.6 meters tall - making it one of the largest Buddha statues in Vietnam.
Construction of the complex began in 1912. Beyond being a sacred place for worship, it also served as a revolutionary base during the resistance era, adding historical significance to its spiritual value.
Phat Lon Pagoda
Thuy Liem Lake lies peacefully in the heart of the mountain, with an area of about 60,000 m² and a water level of up to 300,000 m³, the clear blue lake surface reflects the clouds and sky. Surrounding the lake are lush flowers, lakeside cafes and fresh air. This place is also associated with many mysterious stories about Taoists who once lived in seclusion, contributing to the characteristic mysticism of Cam Mountain.
Bo Hong Peak is the highest point of the Cam mountain range, where visitors can see all the way to the Vietnam-Cambodia border and enjoy the floating clouds. There is a sacred Jade Emperor statue and a legend about the “bo hong” insect associated with the name of this mountain peak.
