Itinerary
09:00: Meet our local tour guide at GO! Nam Dinh and begin an immersive journey into the living heritage of Nam Dinh’s countryside.
Our first stop is Hong Quang Water Puppet Village, one of the most authentic and well-preserved water puppet villages in Northern Vietnam. Here, you will meet local artisans and uncover the origins of water puppetry — a folk art born from wet-rice culture. Listen to stories passed down through generations and try your hand at crafting your own water puppet.
Optional: A live water puppet performance can be arranged upon request (additional fee).
Continue to Co Chat Silk Village, renowned for its centuries-old silk-making tradition. Observe the meticulous process of unraveling silkworm cocoons and weaving silk threads. The village offers a rare contrast between elderly artisans preserving ancestral techniques and younger generations using modern looms to sustain the craft.
12:30: Enjoy a home-style lunch at Quan Anh Heritage House, a culturally significant residence reflecting the harmonious blend of Eastern and Western architecture. This tranquil setting offers a deeper insight into the historical development of Hai Anh Village.
14:30: Cycle through peaceful rural lanes to Pham Phao Village, famous for traditional wood carving, brass trumpet making, and the elegant Pham Phao Church, a symbol of early Catholic influence in the region.
On the return route, visit the iconic Covered Tile Bridge of Luong Pagoda (16th century), an architectural gem representing the soul of the Vietnamese countryside. Along the way, observe daily village life and learn about Vietnamese rituals and ancestral worship practices.
Optional Experiences:
Option 1 – Traditional Handicraft:
Visit a local household where straw brooms are handmade — a humble yet essential item in Vietnamese homes. Try making your own broom and appreciate the patience behind this traditional craft.
Option 2 – Seasonal Experience (Dry Season Only):
Visit the Hai Dong Salt Fields, where salt workers start before dawn. Between 15:00 – 16:00: witness the beautiful moment when salt crystallizes under the sun — a highly photogenic and authentic rural scene.
After the visits, return to Quan Anh Heritage House for a rejuvenating herbal foot bath, the perfect way to relax after an active cultural day.
Late afternoon, bid farewell to Hai Hau and transfer back to Hanoi or Ninh Binh.
