Introduction

Singapore Botanical Garden, officially called Botanical Garden, is one of the most beautiful in the world in terms of aesthetics and quality of its botanical collection. The garden, which is a good destination for those who love nature, has about 3000 species of tropical and subtropical plants and a herbarium of about 500 000 preserved specimens.

Established in 1859 by the Agri-Horticultural Society, 60 acres of land were transformed from a disused plantation into the popular recreational garden you see today. A testament to Singapore’s reputation as a City in a Garden, the Botanic Gardens is the country’s first UNESCO Heritage Site, joining the ranks of iconic landmarks such as Cambodia’s Angkor Wat and The Great Wall of China.
