Dali (Yunnan)

The ancient city of Dali is located 13 kilometers from Xiaguan, in Dali City, Yunnan Province, and is one of the "Three Ancient " (ancient cities, ancient pagodas and ancient steles) of Dali's scenic location. It can be dated from the year 1382 during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). With Erhai Lake to the east and Cangshan Mountain to the west, its grand city wall, the traditional Bai ethnic minority folk houses and the wonderful scenery have attracted many visitors.
The traditional houses of the Bai ethnic minority give the city a distinctive feeling, unlike any other Chinese city. Besides the traditional houses of the Bai ethnic minority, Dali houses with gray-green tiles, private workshops, temples, schools and churches with an ancient flavor are scattered. Traditional marble art works, such as pencil vases, striped screens and a variety of craftsmanship crafted from fine straw, are placed on both sides of the street to be purchased. The newly opened Foreigner Street is also a must, offering traditional Bai-style snacks, as well as the famous three-course tea ceremony for guests, which includes bitter tea, sweet tea and final tea.
