Why a local house

The same five-star hotels. Without the layers in between.

Many luxury tours of Thailand and Laos are sold by agencies abroad and operated by a local company like ours. Booking with us directly means the same hotels, river boats and private guides, with one team responsible for every detail and no mark-up added along the way.

Your travel designer works from our offices in Bangkok and Hanoi, knows the hotels room by room and is the person you message while you travel. Proposals arrive within 24 hours, and every element can be changed until it feels exactly right.

Updated October 2026 · Reviewed by Lily Dam, travel designer

How much does a private luxury tour of Thailand and Laos cost?

Our signature journeys start from US$4,368 per person with Luxury hotels and from US$6,757 per person with Iconic hotels, based on two travelling, international flights not included. The final price depends on your dates, length and hotel choices; your travel designer sends an exact quote within 24 hours.

When is the best time to go?

November to March is ideal for both countries: dry, sunny days, cool mornings in the north and the Mekong high enough for the river journey. We plan around the weather for your dates.

What is the Mekong river journey like?

You cross from Chiang Khong in Thailand to Huay Xai in Laos and spend three days and two nights on the river to Luang Prabang, aboard the Gypsy, a two-cabin boat reserved for you alone. Departure days depend on the boat; your travel designer plans around them.

Do we need visas?

For Thailand, US, UK, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and Irish citizens are visa-exempt for up to 30 days and complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card online before arrival. For Laos, most visitors need a visa: apply online for an e-visa before you travel, or get a visa on arrival at Luang Prabang, Vientiane or Pakse airport. Every visitor also completes the free Lao Digital Immigration Form online in the three days before arrival. We send clear instructions for every country after booking.

Can we fly instead of taking the boat?

Yes. Bangkok and Chiang Mai have direct flights to Luang Prabang, so the journey works just as well by air if you are short of time.

Can we finish on a beach?

Yes. From Luang Prabang we fly you via Bangkok to Koh Samui, Phuket or Koh Yao Noi, depending on the season.

What is included?

Hotels with breakfast, private car and driver, private English-speaking guides on touring days, regional and domestic flights, experiences and entrance fees in the programme, and 24/7 support. International flights, visas, insurance and personal expenses are not included.

How do we book and pay?

A 30% deposit confirms your journey; the balance is due 30 days before you arrive.

Tell us a little. We will design the rest.
